WorkKeys is a skills assessment system used by employers and schools. Skills can be tested in nine areas, but employers often focus on: applied math, reading for information and locating information. The system is a product of ACT, also known for the college entrance exam. Information about WorkKeys and access to practice tests can be found here.

South Carolina employers recognize WorkKeys and three levels of skill achievement have been established, gold, silver and bronze. Information about the state’s Career Readiness Certificate can be found at the WorkReadySC website.
